Update to Sock Monsters

I posted my sock monster a long time ago.  Well if you dont know the story here it is.  The other art teacher I work with made these with her 5th grade students.  They took a long time to make but they did turn out very well.  I think I am going to do it in the spring near the end of the year.

3rd Grade Jim Dine Tools

I know that when people do Jim Dine the do his Hearts, but he did a great series of tools.  I found this lesson on Crayola.  It is a great lesson to teach value. The way I do it is I bring in tool for the students to draw like a still-life.  Then they pick one color to color their picture in, and they also get black, and white to do this project. The student enjoy this one and so do I.

This is one of my new FAV.

Well as some of you know I do teach technology as well this school year which is new to me.  About three weeks ago I came cross Storybird. This website will let your students write stories from the wonder artwork that Storybird provides.  It is a great way if you have a few extra minutes in class they can write story from just one picture.  I started using it with my 5th grade computer class and my students are loving it.
